A Message from Dr. Rodriguez

As the proud principal of Tracy Elementary School, it is an honor to represent the Tracy Community. As a former student of Tracy, it is a dream come true to have the unique opportunity to share my hopes and dreams for all Tracy students. I genuinely believe that every child deserves the chance to attain a post-secondary education if he or she so chooses. In conjunction with our teachers, staff, and parents, we can make this possible for our students. The teaching and support staff at Tracy School demonstrates its dedication and commitment to our students by their willingness to provide the academic and emotional support our students need throughout the academic years spent at Tracy.

Tracy School is committed to all of our students' academic and emotional success. Our goal is to provide students with a curriculum that aligns with the California Common Core State Standards and provides them with the necessary 21st Century skills that will prepare students for post-secondary education. Our students receive numerous opportunities to collaborate, communicate, think critically, and be creative throughout their daily lessons. Rigorous instruction is provided and the development of conceptual thinking using Thinking Maps across the curriculum; Write from the Beginning and Beyond Writing Program; and Cognitively Guided Instruction in the area of math. Our school offers a multi-tiered layer of interventions and supports focused on essential learnings that support all student groups, including students with special needs and English Language Learners. Our staff collaborates in grade-level teams to analyze data that leads to the development of Common Formative Assessments that help guide instruction and group students for academic intervention and enrichment. Teachers apply best practices that help all students succeed academically and social-emotionally. Our award-winning Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program provides rigorous instruction in Spanish and English as we prepare our students to become bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural. Tracy School staff is dedicated to preparing students who will be successful in the 21st-Century. Together, we strive to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to attend the college or university of their choice. In addition to the academic merits Tracy has received, our students, teachers, and staff are committed to developing a safe and emotionally supportive school environment. Implementing the TK-6 Grade Second Step Social-Emotional Curriculum and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) systems assist us with these goals. Tracy students and staff proudly implement our four behavior expectations--Respect, Responsibility, Safety, and Kindness--throughout the day.

Our school motto, "Believe, Achieve, and Succeed" is one that drives our daily efforts of helping every child achieve academically.  Tracy School's mission is to prepare all learners for a successful future and our vision is to have a community that collaborates to achieve innovative, global thinkers. As a team, we can help our Tracy students get closer to their dreams.

Respectfully,

Dr. Laura Rodriguez,

Tracy School Principal
